What happens when you combine Dutch design, German engineering and a great longing for freedom? Exactly: eVentje happens. A campervan that not only runs on electricity, but is also a real space miracle - and looks as if it has been driven straight from a Scandinavian design studio to the campsite. But getting there was not so easy. The weight in particular was a major hurdle on the way to the perfect e-camper...

E-camping? Sounds simple - but it's not.

An electric campervan is the logical consequence of the desire to travel more sustainably. In reality, however, this often fails due to a very practical problem: Weight. Because a fully equipped camper weighs quite a bit - furniture, kitchen, bed, technology, batteries, water, people... And an electric drive is particularly sensitive. The heavier the vehicle, the shorter the range - and this quickly limits the freedom on four wheels.

The makers of Ventje were faced with precisely this dilemma. Their mission: to develop an all-electric campervan that not only looks stylish, but also really works. And not just in the brochure, but outside - on the street, at the campsite, on the lakeshore, in the middle of nowhere.

The centrepiece: the VW ID. Buzz

The basis of the eVentje is none other than the new VW ID. Buzz - the electric version of the legendary Bulli. That alone is a statement. The ID. Buzz is compact, manoeuvrable and electric - perfect for urban adventures, spontaneous road trips and small parking spaces. But Ventje's work was far from over.

Because anyone who thinks you can just throw in a mattress and the campervan is ready to go has never travelled in a real campervan.

Design meets function - and wins prizes 🏆

The developers at Ventje have rethought the ID. Buzz from scratch - with a clear goal: Utilise every corner without overloading the vehicle. The result is a clever room concept that works so well that it has been honoured twice: with the Red Dot Design Award 2024 and a place in the Good Industrial Design Top 100.

And quite honestly - that is more than deserved. Because the eVentje is not only pretty, but also extremely well thought out.

What can the eVentje do? A lot!

Here's a little insight into what the eVentje can do (spoiler: a whole lot in a very small space):

• 🛏 A bed for twoThe ingenious sliding system transforms the interior into a cosy 2 x 1.4 metre bed in no time at all.
• 🍳 Cooking - indoors & outdoorsThe kitchen in the rear is accessible from both sides - with a large refrigerator, induction hob and water connection.
• 🍷 A bar that folds outYes, really. For sundowners with style.
• ☀️ Solar modules on topFor real self-sufficiency when travelling.
• 🌌 Pop-top roof with a view of the starsSleeping place number two included.
• 🔌 Mobile Office ready: USB-C-Anschlüsse, Steckdosen, Stauraum – für digitales Arbeiten unterwegs.
• 🪑 Outdoor set from the drawerTable, chairs, stools - everything included.
• 🚽 Toilet? Sure. It is also designed for longer trips.

And all this in a compact vehicle with only 4.7 metres long. This means that it not only fits into any car park, but is also suitable as a Everyday vehicle.

Range? Enough!

With a realistic range of approx. 400 kilometres (up to 460 km according to WLTP), the eVentje will take you pretty far. And when the battery is empty: Fast charging to 80 % in 30 minutes - enough time for a coffee, a short walk and then it's off again.

Price & availability

Of course, quality has its price: the eVentje starts at 95,000 euros - but for this you don't just get an electric car, but a fully-fledged mobile home. Delivery time is currently around 9 months.

The eVentje is a bold step into a new era of travelling. Quiet, sustainable, stylish - and above all, well thought out down to the smallest detail. Of course, this meant tinkering, testing and, above all, saving - on weight, not comfort.
