Hymer is bringing a breath of fresh air to its premium campervan segment. The series previously known as the Columbia will be given a new, striking name for the upcoming 2026 model year: Hymer Redwood. As the trade press, including Autozeitung.de, currently reports, the van, which will go on sale as early as 2025, is set to redefine the benchmark in the six-metre segment. The repositioning aims to offer the highest quality of living in compact dimensions and is clearly aimed at discerning travellers who value premium equipment and maximum manoeuvrability.

Compact and premium: the advantages of the six-metre format

The new Hymer Redwood remains true to its original philosophy: it is a fully-fledged campervan that operates in an overall length of only around six metres. This dimension is a decisive criterion for many campers, as it ensures significantly greater suitability for everyday use in contrast to longer models. Whether narrow alleyways in southern European cities or the search for a parking space outside the campsite - the compact design pays off here. At the same time, Hymer promises not to compromise on the interior fittings in the 600 and 601 layouts.

The two floor plans announced, the Redwood 600 and the Redwood 601, are focussed on different user needs. While the 600 is likely to offer the classic, flexible layout for couples, the 601 could be geared towards specific bed configurations or an extended kitchenette. For campers, it is crucial that Hymer often focuses on high-quality materials, well thought-out storage space concepts and effective insulation in this class, which also makes the van attractive for use in colder seasons.

Market launch and price calculation

The change to the name Redwood not only marks a cosmetic change, but also emphasises the positioning in the absolute upper class of panel vans. The key financial figures have already been published for interested buyers. As the reporting confirms, the prices for the 600 and 601 layouts of the new Hymer Redwood (model year 2026) have already been calculated and communicated. This enables potential customers to plan their investment at an early stage.

Although the exact starting prices are traditionally high in the premium segment, they offer clear transparency about the entry hurdle into this exclusive class. According to information from industry circles, which Promobil also confirms, the Redwood will be in direct competition with other luxury vans, with the combination of Hymer-typical quality, innovative details and the focus on the compact six-metre size setting it apart. The focus is clearly on the target group that is prepared to pay a corresponding price for the highest quality and a well thought-out user experience.

The introduction of the Redwood is therefore not just a change of name, but a clear statement that Hymer wants to actively occupy the growing segment of high-quality campervans suitable for everyday use.
